Ann Curry

Ann Curry, an American photojournalist and journalist who has covered wars as well as natural disasters over the past 45 years, is focused on the suffering of people within these zones. Curry was a reporter for wars covering Kosovo, Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo. Ann Curry (born on November 19, 1956 in the city of Agana) was an American television reporter, anchor as well as a journalist. Curry's father served as a sailor with the U.S. Navy and her mother was Japanese. Her parents met while her father was in Japan shortly after World War II. In the wake of her father's involvement in the military, they moved a lot. They eventually settled in Ashland Oregon where Curry attended high school. Curry graduated from high school in 1978 and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism from the University of Oregon. The couple relocated frequently so Curry didn't stay in the same school for over two years. She traveled extensively to locations including San Diego Alameda Oregon and Virginia. Ashland was her final high school. While working as an intern for KTVL Channel 10 Medford, Oregon she had the foundation to build a successful and long-lasting television career. She became an early female journalist on the history of the station when she was 22. Then, she moved on to become an anchor and reporter at KGW the NBC affiliate station in Portland. In Los Angeles, she became reporter at KCBS TV 4 years following her moving to the city. Through her tenure of six years with the station, she earned the award of two Emmy Awards.
